WHY SHOULD I JOIN?JOURNALMoSGA's official publication, the Missouri State Genealogical Journal, appears quarterly. It contains genealogical information from all areas of the state, as well as related articles received from members and others regarding church, cemetery, county, and Bible records. Historical and educational narratives are also welcomed. Books donated to MoSGA are reviewed in the Journal. NEWSLETTER MoSGA publishes a quarterly newsletter as part of its service to members. CONFERENCEEach Summer MoSGA sponsors a conference that is usually held in central Missouri. Sessions offer guidance in beginning genealogy, advanced research strategy, and introduction to research sources in Missouri and other states. Vendors are available with current materials for sale. PUBLICATIONSMoSGA has for sale a wide range of publications relating to Missouri genealogy. A list of these publications is included in the packet sent to new members and is also available upon request. INTERLIBRARY LOAN PROGRAMBooks purchased by or given to MoSGA are donated to the Mid-Continent Public Library (North Independence Branch) for placement in the Genealogy Circulating Collection. This collection of over 7,000 genealogy and local history books is available to local patrons and researchers nationwide through interlibrary loan. These charts are subsequently published in 200 page books which are made available for purchase at a nominal cost. QUERIESMoSGA members may submit as many queries as desired and they will be published in The Journal and they will be published on a space available basis. The Journal is accessible in major libraries and other participating genealogical research centers and thereby, the queries are readily available to other researchers of your submitted surname. SPEAKERSBoard members are available to share their expertise by presenting sessions at workshops and local society programs. AWARDSAnnually, MoSGA recognizes those persons and organizations in the state that have rendered meritorious service or made exceptional contributions to the field of genealogy.
